Compared to the conventional 35 to 50 nautical miles of a VHF (Very High Frequency) radio, the range of an SSB (Single Sideband) radio is significantly greater. High Frequency (HF) SSB radio has a range of several thousand miles, while Medium Frequency (MF) SSB radio ranges about 400 nautical miles.
