How much fuel does a ship use?

A large ship might use up to 250 tonnes of fuel daily, according to the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. To put it in perspective, that is the equivalent of more than 80,000 gallons of petroleum a day. In contrast, regular-sized ships can consume up to 150 tonnes of gasoline every day.
