Radio Detection and Ranging are known by the acronym “Radar.” The basic principle on which marine radar works is electromagnetic waves. An object’s location, whether moving or stationary, can be determined by sending high-speed electromagnetic waves from the radar antenna. These waves measure the object’s distance, velocity, direction, and altitude.
