A small aircraft crashed on Thursday at Langley Air Force Base near Hampton, Virginia, as reported by WTKR News 3. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials stated that the plane was an experimental MX Aircraft MXS. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene.

FAA Statement on the Crash

According to meteorologist Ricky Matthews, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released the following statement regarding the incident:

“An MX Aircraft MXS crashed while the pilot was attempting to land at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia around 11:50 a.m. local time on Thursday, April 24. Only the pilot was on board. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB is in charge of the probe and will inform us about any changes.

Speculation Around Rob Holland’s Involvement

The crash occurred just days before the Air Power Over Hampton Roads air show. Unconfirmed reports on social media suggest that aerobatic pilot Rob Holland, who is set to perform at the event, may have been the individual aboard the aircraft. However, no official confirmation has been released.

Flight Tracking Data Adds to Speculation

Adding to the speculation, flight tracking data from FlightAware.com shows a plane registered to Rob Holland trip from Nashville International Airport (KBNA) to Langley Air Force Base (KLFI), landing at 11:31 a.m., just minutes before the reported crash time.
