Statement from the Indian Navy Chief
Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Navy Chief, has stated that the Indian Navy will take affirmative action to ensure a safer and more secure Indian Ocean Region. He mentioned that not a single Indian-flagged vessel has been target in and around the Red Sea by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
However, he also acknowledged that the situation in the western Indian Ocean is volatile, and the Indian Navy will remain deployed until normalcy returns.
The Role of the Indian Navy

In the last 100-plus days, 21 Indian warships have been deploy for regional operations. This has involved around 5,000 naval personnel at sea and 900 hours of flying by maritime surveillance aircraft. The Navy has carried out almost 1,000 boarding operations on the high seas.
